NSA Newsletter - Spring is here!

The warm weather has finally arrived, final exams have come and gone - and a new year is upon us! 

 

      Class of 2021  - Congrats on completing your first semester/year at CCNM! 

      Class of 2020 IMG intake -  Welcome! We are so happy to have you here at CCNM.

      Class of 2020 NPLEXers - GOOD LUCK - the NSA is always here to support and cheer you on!  

      Class of 2019  - You rock! All your hard work over the past few years has prepared you to be amazing interns!

      Graduating class of 2018 - Congratulations, we can't wait to see whats in store for each of your next steps!

        To everyone else, enjoy your freedom for the next few months - and make the most of it!

VP Campus Life update - from Karlee Handy

  • IMG Unity Summit will be hosted by the NSA on Friday May 11 from 3:00-7:00pm in the Courtyard (weather permitting).  This event is to welcome the new class of international medical graduates to our CCNM community.  

  • Keep up to date with NSA-related activities with our monthly newsletter through the summer and next year.   Opportunities to watch for: Unity Summit U-Crew leaders, Clubs, and more!

     

VP External update - from Caitlyn Keates

  • CAND:

    • Naturopathic medicine week is May 14th-20th. This year the CAND have provided social media templates that they invite all students and faculty to use to post. Please use the hashtags #NatMedWeek #MedicallyTrained #NaturallyFocused when posting.   • IPHSA:

    • Complete IPE survey for a chance to win 1 of 20 Tim Horton's gift cards!

      -    Every year, the annual IPE survey results are used to evaluate and inform advancements to IPHSA (Interprofessional Healthcare Students' Association) and the U of T Centre of IPE Curriculum. Responses are anonymous and should not take more than 10 minutes.     • IPHSA executive applications are now open!

      -   Looking to get involved in a leadership position that represents and works with students from all healthcare professions? The Interprofessional Healthcare Students' Association (IPHSA) works with 13 different student faculties in Toronto and the GTA and is closely affiliated with the UofT Center of IPE. We are looking for an additional Co-President, VP Health Policy, VP External, VP Internal, VP Finance, and two Interfaculty Curriculum Committee Liaisons.   • OAND:

    • Goodlife membership:

      • A contract over the summer - April 2018 - September 2018 is $230+Hst.

      • The contracts usually run October 1st - September 30th 2019 at $40/month with access across Canada and towel service where available.

      • You must be a member of the OAND to use the Corporate rate.

      • You are able to transfer a current Goodlife membership to the OAND pricing using the attached transfer form.

         

         

VP Internal update - from Kimberly Lawson

  • Reimbursement deadline for NSA claims from June 2017-April 2018 is Friday June 1, 2018. Make sure you get them submitted on Moodle (on the Naturopathic Students Association page) before the deadline! 

     

     

Student Governor update - from Emily Bell

  • The Board of Governors will be having their next meeting Thursday, May 24th at 9 am.  I will be presenting a report on Student Satisfaction and Concerns at the June Academic Committee Meeting (a sub committee of the BOG). If you have any concerns or comments that you would like me to consider to include in this report, please email me at nsastudentgovernor@gmail.com. Your input is greatly valued! This report will be available on the NSA Moodle page once completed.

President - from Nicole DeYonge

 

CCNM is introducing a Drug & Alcohol Abuse Prevention Policy for both students and employees in order to meet criteria for U.S. Federal Student Aid eligibility.  The details of this policy requirement have been sent to NDnet emails (attached) and we ask that any students with concerns please email nsa_president@ndnet.ccnm.edu to have potential issues addressed through the College Committee.  Some things that may affect students include:

  • Drug or alcohol addictions and available counselling and support

  • Use or possession on CCNM property/activity

  • consequences for students, interns, and employees

 

Class of 2018 Convocation - Looking to get some inspiration and motivation for the upcoming year? CCNM is inviting all students to attend convocation for the Class of 2018, on Thursday May 24, 1:00pm at Ryerson Theatre.  We would love to see you there!
